i'm wondering if your dog has seperation anxiety. if she is fine the rest of the time, it is probably emotional. could you possibly find an expert in dog behavior to help you with this problem? it might be pricey, but worth it, i'm sure.

a dog trainer told me the part about getting a smaller crate. he said when you're training them, the crate should only be large enough for the dog to stand up and lie down. he also said you can use a bigger crate, but put something at the back of the crate to reduce the amount of space the dog can use

Check with a vet to see if he has troubles.
If not...
He goes on the blanket because it absorbs the mess... take the blanket out.
WALK HIM right before he goes in.
What is his feeding schedule like... you may want to change it... what are the other two dogs? Larger smaller?

5 hours is every day is way to much time to be in a crate. ig are know to be a little nerves. it may be that he gets really up set and dose not know how to calm him self down. it also seems like you dont have enough time for this dog. why dont you find him a home where he want have to spend so many hours in a crate.

my dog used to do the same thing....it turned out he had a condition were if hes alone for too long...he will loose control of his bladder and not know what he is doing....i think its the same deal w/ your dog. what we did is we got rid of the crate and had him rome free in the house....now he is completely fine. so i say " ditch the crate sista! "
