Dog Is Destroying My House!?

We are currently fostering a 6-month-old pit bull/greyhound mix until she finds a permanent home. It is obvious to us that she has no prior training, and we don’t know who had her before we got her. She is the sweetest dog in the world and loves to cuddle, run, and play with our other dog when we are home. However, when we go to work during the day, she turns into a total maniac. We have left chew toys, stuffed animals, etc. out for her during the day, but she always seems to find soemthing else to chew on. Yesterday when I got home, she had reached her head into the cubby holes of our coffee table, pulled out all of the contents, and chewed/eaten everything. On top of that, she got into our higher-up bookshelves, pulled everything off and shredded it. To make matters worse, she also chewed the corner off of our coffee table, peed and pooped everywhere, and eventually puked everything up on our couch. We tried putting her in a pen, but she jumps out. Please help!!!!

A 6 month old puppy is not only still teething, they’re puppies and destructive, therefore, they need to crated during the day until they’re much older, finished teething and well past the destructive stage. For her own safety (because one day she’s going to eat something that’s going to cause a blockage which is going to mean expensive surgery to save her life), as well as the safety of all your belongings, this puppy needs to be crate trained until she’s older and well past puppyhood and reliably housetrained.

    Crate training!!!!
Try that and also she is still a puppy and in the chewing stage. How long are you away during work. If it is more then 4 hours, try a pet sitter to come by and let her out until you get home. That way she is not in there for a long time. Supervise, supervise until she gets older and she will grow out of chewing. If you see her chew…correct and replace with her chew toy. This way you are also training her on what not to chew.

First of all ask if anyone found a home and if that does not work you should get someone to stay home at all times

Why in the world have you not crate trained this dog???
Start now – that will take care of all your problems.

Crate train her. A young dog should NEVER be left alone in the house.
