Well here is what I have heard about the training. Greyhounds should have the natural instinct to chase the lure. first you need to get them running. Go find a track and just jog along with your greyhound then start running so they get used to it. Then have your greyhound sit/stay at one point of the track while you go to another end with a lure on a string. Yell “come!” and as soon as the greyhound starts running toward you, start running while dragging the lure behind you. Your greyhound should catch up and make sure the lure smells good in some way so he wants to get at it. I think you can go from there if you catch my drift.
Get in touch with a lure coursing club in your area and see if you can sign up for classes or lessons.
I’d highly adocate you to buy the book, “Help! My Puppy Is Driving Me Crazy” By Diana Delmar. It has every thing you need to know about your puppy from training to problems all owners have. It also shows you how to take care of your dog and clean him and what to do with him when your out of town. Hope this helps!
pancake is right greyhounds are sight hounds they chase prey by instinct. You have to be careful with these dogs if they slip out the door or off their leash and see a rabbit they will take off not knowing which way then are going and get lost. most grey hound owners know this. good luck
