Greyhound Training?

I have a 7 year old purebred rescued greyhound. I want to teach him to lie down (since greyhounds don’t sit often). However, he was abused, and my family thinks he was hit over the head one too many times because we’re having a little trouble training him. He’s a little slow. Any tips? Websites and personal experience would be very helpful. Thanks!

Gail Burnham long time GH breeder/exhibitor/competitor wrote a book called Play Training your dog I think…..she competes in Obedience with her GHs.
    I’d say clicker training http://clickersolutions.com/ http://www.clickertraining.com/
or positive training would work great.
I take rescues to my local AKC Obedience Club for classes and do NOT over comfort them or make a fuss when they are scared. I pet them when they act confident.
I’d say use treats to train him if he likes food.

talk to the rescue—-he is probably used to standing around people.

I remember seeing some dog training e-books on the net a little while ago. They were free downloads. If you want, I can look for them again. Just let me know :-)
