How Do I Train Her Not To Bark When I Am Not Home?

My dog sticks to me like glue but she gets very sad when I have to leave her. When she is alone, even when locked in a room alone she barks and barks. She is a Doberman/Pointer/Greyhound mix so, as you can imagine, her bark is rather loud.
Do any of those gimmicks work? Is there any trick to get her to stop barking. It is hard for me to train her to stop when I can’t be in the room.

BEST THING IS TO TIRE THE DOG OUT AT THE SAME TIME EVERY DAY SO SHE CAN COUNT ON IT . THAT WAY IT IS MORE LIKELY TO SLEEP WHILE YOUR AWAY. IT WOULD BE GOOD IF YOU COULD PLAY HARD IN THE AM BEFORE WORK IF YOU CAN, IF NOT A GOOD 20-30 MIN. HARD PLAY A DAY NO MATTER WHAT! WILL WORK. YOU HAVE TO ALWAYS DO IT FOR IT TO WORK. TIRE HER OUT! THEN TRY HERBS FOR DOGS TO RELAX THEM. WE USE THEM FOR OUR HORSE BEFORE TRAVLE.

if i may suggest like take her outside one day and tell her to sit and then walk away slowly but go behind her and if she starts to bark tell her to stop when you can finally walk away with out her barking try and do it in your room if she can finally stop barking when u leave then u are set and when she does good give her a treat it helps my dog was liek that but we had to just work with her it might take time tho. so be prepared.good luck

An idea would be to play calm music on repeat so your dog will here it, or even leave something that they can munch on while you are gone. If these to things do not work try an electric bark collar. You might feel bad for them, but it works. I have a terrier, and all i do is play some music all day and give him a treat and he does notice that i leave but what i do and what you should try is to leave silently. Good Luck!

You need to give her something to distract her attention. Like a treat ball for instance. It’s a ball that you put treats inside and the dog has to roll it around to get the treats out. Also you can try putting her in a room away from you for a minute and after that go back to her, then when she doesn’t bark reward her. Gradually increase the amount of time you are away from her until she realises that you are not leaving her for good and that you are going to come back.

Confine ur dog into one section which is not visible to your present. Give him some kong toys or his dog bone to bite. If anytime your dog barks, put a strap on muzzle, and use the command quiet. After 10-15minutes, take off the muzzle and praise/reward him. Repeat the above steps when your dog starts barking again. This will take a while for dogs to understand.
After a few times, try to use the command quiet without using the muzzle. By luck your dog might finally understand.
    It works for my Lab.

All dogs bark, as you can probably imagine. I have a dog of my own and every time we left he would bark and bark. When we left we would tell him to lay down. And this may seem weird but we sang to him. And he LOVED it! He went to sleep as we left! Now our dog is a chocolate lab. I don’t know if that makes any difference. Tell me if it works… in fact email it to me at : Midnightotrt@yahoo.com.
