How To Train A Dog To Sleep In Their Own Bed?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
I have a 9-month old italian greyhound. I made the mistake of letting him sleep with me at night when we sleep. He loves to sleep with me and loves to cuddle. I decided that I would really like to train him to sleep in his own bed at night. is there ANY ways I can do this. Any advice to help train him to do this?

Buy a wire crate and put it right next to your bed. The dog should settle within a couple of nights.
if you have a kennel for it then i suggest to put him in the kennel at the normal time you go to bed and sleep near the kennel (like on a couch near it or something you wont have to sleep there) and once the doggy falls asleep you can either sneak back to your bed or stay there, sometimes if you feel its needed you can stay on the floor right next to the kennel. each night get a little farther away from the cage or leave a bit earlier. good luck i hope this helps!
A lot of people use the crate method. Put a pad in the create and let him get used to staying on the pad in there. Then, eventually remove the crate, keep the pad.
I recommend also that you learn to train your dog from a professional. Below is a great site that shows training guides for you to learn how to train the dog. It is great to do this yourself because of the bonding it creates between you.http://www.dogtraining.ebookstogether.co…
My Greyhound LOVED sleeping on our bed whenever we left the house, we always had to leave our bedroom door closed if we went out. But ever since I bought him his own Snooza Cuddler bed he has ignored ours. We needed the extra large, you’d only need the small, but once dogs have “cuddled” into this one they will not want to sleep with you – my husband jokes that the dogs bed is more comfy than ours! Have a look at their website, I am sure they would post overseas.
I have used this companies products for many years, and the quality is brilliant. My big boy barely gets off his bed now!http://www.snooza.com.au/products/cuddle…
They are right, a crate is the way to go. Now you need to acclimate the dog to the crate. You can toss kibble in there to make it a treat to be in the crate.
