Tell Me About Your Dogs?

I know it sounds crazy, but I have 30 dogs. No, I’m not kidding, and no, I’m not a hoarder. I live on a very large three generation working ranch. Please, no bad comments. We have a 300 acre ranch and need these dogs. Most are strictly working dogs.
I have a Bulldog named Chowder, who is 5 years old. He is strictly an indoor companion, but has proved his worth by breaking up more than a few fights between our holstein bulls.
Then, there is Geekie. He is a 12 year old Wire Fox Terrier. Back when we had a problem with foxes getting our chickens he was used to hunt and kill them. He is now an indoor companion.
Next is Scrumptious, an 11 year old Portuguese Podengo Pequeno. We use him to flush birds when hunting and he keeps rats out of the barnyard.
I also have a 4 year old German Wirehaired Pointer named Missy. She is our best bird retriever!
Oberon is a 6 year old Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen. He is our best rabbit hunter.
Intrepid is a 3 year old Giant Schnauzer. He is our cattle drover.
Caesar is a 1 year old Argentine Dogo pup. We bought him not long ago because we were having a problem with some large predator taking our livestock. We think it might be a puma or coyote, but aren’t sure. They definately stay away from him!
Kosmic is a 2 year old Basset Hound. Not the world’s best rabbit hunter, but loves the chase!
Dodger is a 10 year old Stabyhoun. He is our resident mole/gopher eradicator.
Charlie is a 3 year old American Eskimo Dog. He is my baby who sleeps with me every single night!
Cassius is one of our newer additions. He is a 1 year old Spinone Italiano. Cassius is another one of our retrievers.
Cricket is a 9 year old Thai Ridgeback. She is a retired breeding and we adopted her recently just as an exotic looking companion.
Harley is a 10 year old Pharaoh Hound. He is another rabbit hunter, very good, but getting a bit slow.
Cristyl is a 2 year old Berger Picard. Strictly a sheep herder.
Bruno is a 1 year old Dandie Dinmont Terrier. He is used alongside Scrumptious to kill any rats, mats, or other rodents that try to get into our grain.
Quasimodo is a 9 year old Coton de Tulear. Just another house pet!
Giggles is a 7 year old Great Pyrenees. 100% a sheep guardian.
Singer is a 9 year old Skye Terrier. Used to eradicate a fox once in a blue moon. We rarely have a problem with that, but have to keep our chickens safe.
Mu Shu is a Russell Terrier, about 4 years old. He is another ratter, but mainly works well out in the field and pastures.
Derby is a 9 year old Border Terrier, works in the western fields/yard killing rats.
Otto is a 3 year old Whippet. I bought him as a companion, but he also participates in recreational racing, just for fun, alongside other pet Whippets and Greyhounds
Tova is almost a year old Estrela Mountain Dog. She lives out with Giggles in training to be a flock guard so we can expand our wool business.
Chew-Chew is our retired Anatolian Shepherd Dog, around 9 years old. He use to guard our flock, but was badly wounded by some sort of large predator. We don’t know what, but it was very big to take down a 150 lb dog!
Ferdinand is a 10 year old Plott Hound. He helps find and take bear during hunting season.
Abby is a 5 year old Neapolitan Mastiff. She is a guard dog and has wrangled a few coyotes in her time. She is well over 100 lbs, lives and sleeps on our porch, but great protection.
Gopher is a 10 year old Cocker Spaniel. He use to hunt, but has been retired since.
Crawdad is our 6 year old Alaskan Malamute. Just a fun dog to have around, rescued from a kill shelter, pulls sleds for my younger brother and sister in the winter!
Gunther a Tosa or Mastiff Mix. We found him as a stray, about 7 years old. Great guard dog. Lives on the other side of our ranch and will kill any animal that comes near him. Loves his family though, but not strangers!
Tricky is a 10 year old Harrier. Use to hunt rabbit in his younger days.
Buginarug is a 12 year old Boxer. He is a guard dog for the east side of our ranch, but also helps out with the bulls when we have to move any for breeding.
I think I’ve named them all….Please tell me about your dogs!

Wow… that’s quite the canine family you have there! I love reading about other peoples’ dogs… and sharing my own!
Nick- 4 year old Gordon Setter (My avitar dog) and the love of my life. He has 9 points torard his AKC championship and 2 qualifying legs toward his Junior Hunter title. He is a silly, sweet, goofy boy that loves to give hugs and he is singly devoted to me.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/Pa…
Kharma- 5 year old female Gordon Setter, spayed. Kharma has completed her Junior Hunter title and we are working on obedience. She is more active than Nick, and SUPER intelligent. She loves learning silly tricks and making people laugh.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/Pa…
Cricket- 7 year old spayed tri-color Papillon. Cricket’s nickname has been Butterbean since I got her; even as a puppy, she looked like a baseball with legs! Sheis a very smart little dog, but she is a Diva. She doesn’t see the reason to have 3 other dogs in the house… after all, I have HER… isn’t that enough??http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/Pa…
Bunny-the baby of the family. She is a 4 and a hald month old sable Papillon. Super, super intelligent, Bunny is the happiest little dog I have ever known! She keeps a smile in my face all the time.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/Pa…

I think its hilarious that you have 30 dogs, but if you have enough room and jobs for them to do –then kudos to you. Too many dogs are getting killed everyday.
I have three dogs (I think that’s the maximum we are allowed to have in our city).
Sadie is a 1.5 year old beagle who is spoiled rotten, and likes to sleep under the covers and beg for food. We got her when she was a puppy so we have nobody to blame for her bad behaviors but ourselves!
Hyacinth is a 10 year old Scottish Terrier that was my husband’s friends dog as a kid. Once his friend went to college, he basically left his dog at his parents house, and we convinced them to let us take her because they weren’t spending any time with her. She is quite happy to sleep at our feet all day as she’s older now and my husband’s friend can visit if he wants too.
China is a 6 year old Rottweiler that we adopted from the pound. She was supposed to be euthanized but someone got an extension and we found her 2 days later. She is the world’s biggest sweetheart and although she was really nervous at first–she is now really loving and a great guard dog! She doesn’t have to do anything but stand there and people hide!

I have a Pug named Dudley McDude.. lol Dudley or Duds for short. He’s 8 months old.
And I have my shelter puppy lol. A Boxer/ Catahoula mix named Santiago, Santi for short. He’s about 10 weeks old.
    They’re like my babies =)

Wow, I have one dog only!! She’s just a pup still, seven month this sunday. She’s just as playful as ever, loves her walks, compassionate the works. But on Saturday…we’re going camping together, to bring out her wolf side! No just kidding lol.

i have a shih tzu named jasper we rescued him from being put down he has 1 eye no tail and was badly mistreated at some point before we got him,
he is my life he is part of my family i know he went through hell before we got him as he was so aggressive and he is now the most lovable play ful little dog you could know .
we know that with only 1 eye we may not have a lot of time with him as he has a little bit of limited sight so we have been told but i will always love him!

We have 3 dogs, actually we’re only allowed 3 per household in my city and they all have to be registered.
One of them belongs to me only and the other two belong to the family.
Lady Nia Nessa (we call her Nia for short) is a purebred Papillon. She’s a show quality dog but I convinced her breeder to let us have her and put her on a spay contract. She’s 8 months old now. She loves to chase anything that moves, other dogs, birds, bugs, etc.
Lady Truffles is our family Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She’s for the 2 kids because she has the best temperament ever! She’s calm and loving and she doesn’t even care that the kids smoosh her and pull her fur and hug her and bother her all day long.
Sir Popcorn is our new long haired Chihuahua. He is the naughtiest dog I’ve ever met. He won’t listen to anything anyone says and runs all over the house doing whatever he wants! He causes a lot of trouble in the house from chewing our furniture to running with muddy paws on our beds!

I only have three dogs. We used too live on a working dairy farm, back then we raised and breed working GSDs. We no longer live on a working farm and no longer breed GSDs. I still have two GSDs, and have added a Yorkshire Terrier.
Missy is my oldest shepherd at 10 years old, she is a real lover not a mean bone in her body and quite the couch potato now.
Fiona is my second shepherd and she will be five this year, loves running, and she loves a good game of chase. Usually she chases the horses until they chase her back.
Anna is my Yorkie, she loves playing with Fiona and Missy, and she keeps the cats in line. She loves nothing better than to be outside hunting rabbits and mice, catches them occasionally as well.
I do not think I could handle 30 dogs, not enough time.

Wow 30 dogs is a handful. But it must be comfortable!
    I have 3 dogs.
I had 1 dog that died a few years ago.
Cassie – Cassie was the dog that died not long ago. She was my first childhood dog. She is a Golden Retriever that would always obey my every command. She was crazy about strangers. She would always bark and growl. I remember one day she jumped on one. She meant a lot to me. It’s hard to remember her as a puppy because I was about 3 when I got her, but I remember she was always a trustful dog that I’ll never forget. She died at age 12.
Minnie – Another Golden Retriever. I got her when I was on a trip to Nebraska and a few months later after Cassie died. I remember I got her at a Pet Store not far from my Grandma’s house. I found her in a group of puppies clawing her way to get some milk. She’s about 3 years old. She had puppies about 8 months ago. I never meant for that to happen, that’s why for now on I’m spaying all my female dogs and neutering all my male dogs. She had 3 puppies, 2 boys and 1 girl. She my other loyal companion. Sometimes she can get irritating and whine to get what she wants, she’s a good dog though. I love having her around, she always comforts when I’m not in a good mood. I love her so very much.
Roudey – A German Shepherd that acts like a puppy ( I’m a lover of big dogs ) I got him a year ago, so he’s about 12 months. He’s an active soul, I got him neutered! Right after Minnie got puppies. He plays with all his toys, and eats a lot. Always wants to be outside, wants to get attention. He still bites on the furniture. He always eats a lot, sometimes jumps up to eat some food on the table. I remember I got him from a breeder that my best friend was going to get her puppy from. I didn’t want him, but then I gave up after seeing Roudey biting my shoe.
Comet – My little cutie, he’s the newest one. You can see him on my picture. He’s a chihuahua/dachshund ( He’s the smallest one ) This is my first small breed or medium breed. I got him 1 week ago. He is about 9 weeks. A very energetic puppy like Roudey. He whines and barks everytime he doesn’t get attention. He eats a lot, and especially snoops on the ground to find things to eat. He chews on carpets, shoes, clothes, and hands since he’s teething. Sometimes he jumps on people and bites their hair or clothes. And plus right now he is biting on the chair I’m sitting on. He’s new, and I just love new puppies.
    That’s about it.

Wow, it really amazes me that not only do you have so many dogs, but they’re all different breeds! (And I thought having four dogs is a lot!) I also find it interesting that even your older dogs still work.
Anyway, I live in the city, and I have four dogs – all just pets! Mine are not nearly as interesting breeds as yours, but they’ve all been rescues or strays since I don’t need any specific breed for working. I have two golden retrievers and two shih tzus (I doubt if the shih tzus COULD even work!).
My oldest dog is Cody the golden retriever, who is 11. We got him when I was young from a family across the street who didn’t have enough time to care for him. He’s been a wonderful dog. He’s very well trained, although his hearing has gotten a bit worse in his advanced years. He’s a very gentle and patient dog and loves every person he meets.
My second dog is a 2 year old golden retriever named Berkeley. I find him physically more appealing than Cody, but he still needs work in some training areas. I got him from my local animal shelter, but I’m pretty sure he’s purebred. He’s a great companion for my old golden retriever, and they play and rough house often.
My third dog is Molly, a 3 year old shih tzu. She was a stray running down a busy road. After a good bath (she really needed it!), I took her to my vet to be scanned for a microchip. She had one, and I called the company and explained. They told me that the only information on her chip was the kennel where she was born (she was a puppy mill puppy). Since I wasn’t planning on keep her, I called the kennel and managed to get the information for the pet store the kennel sold her to. I called the pet store and they gave me the information of her owners, as well as her age. I called her owners, and left a voice mail. I never got a reply, and by this time I liked her quite a bit and she was such an inconsequential dog that I kept her.
My fourth dog is Quincy, a 1 year old shih tzu. When my two big dogs would play, little Molly wanted so badly to play with them, but I was afraid she would get hurt because they’re so much larger than her. This is where Quincy comes in. I got him from a woman on craigslist who was moving and couldn’t take him. He’s a very sweet and silly little dog, and him and Molly do play pretty often, which is funny to watch.

Wow 30 dogs! I wish I could have that many, but you must certainly have your hands full!
Well my best friend is Herbie the mutt, 5 years old. We adopted him from the RSPCA when he was 6 months after someone abandoned him in a skip. A complete Heinz 57 but incredibly loyal and very Intelligent. I enjoy doing obedience with him and taking him on long walks. He’s good at guarding the house and those inside. He like chasing after rabbits and squirrels, consuming cheese and running on the beach through the waves. He is an amazing dog and makes a comfy pillow as he sleeps right by my side
    every night.
My other dog is a working English Springer Spaniel. Fern is 13 months and my little shadow. Every where I go she goes too. I’d like to get her into field trials as she is a keen hunter. Her favorite things are swimming (she insists on swimming in every lake we encounter), tennis balls and long walks. She adores Herbie but also enjoys playing with the cats. She’s a very loyal dog and great company. She too likes to join me on my bed every night.
I love my two best friends more than anything I’m the world.
