Un-happy Dogg ? ? ?

Well , my 9 year old female greyhound mix is unhappy . She has some behavior problems that are currently being worked on , like biting animals and atempting to bite people , but she just seems so unhappy ! It breaks my heart
She does not like to play , whatsoever . Never had , never will . She dosn’t even glance at a toy . Trust me , we’ve tryed every toy known to man . She just dosn’t seem interested . Also – She HATES our other dog . I mean HATES her . She was a happier before we brought our other dog home , but since then , she has just been a total grump . She also dosn’t really like to be loved on ? Like , i go up to her and pet her , and her tail just lowers and stops wagging , and in her eyes you see total un-happiness . We also can’t take her for walks right now , becuase she will attack other dogs if she sees them , but hopefully after some training , she will be able to walk outside again !

Just a hunch, but what do you feed her? Have you always fed her the same thing? Is it a quality food? Try feeding Nutro Max dog food and giving her fish oil. She may not be getting the right nutrients and doesn’t feel well. Some dogs are most happy when they’re eating. Try to make her meals a little special by adding, to her dry dog food, a small amount of canned dog food along with a little chicken, cheese, egg or anything to make a small change and to give her a special treat. I always put a little something in my dog’s food.
If she’s a greyhound mix, she obviously hasn’t raced BUT she may have been attacked at one time by another dog. Have you had her her entire life? You need to make a correction to her lead every time she acts like she’s going to bark, growl or attack another dog. When you walk her, (do you walk her enough?) don’t tense up like you expect her to act out, she will be able to feel that. Take it free and easy and she will react to it.
Regardless of what you think, dog’s don’t have feellings like people do. If you’re doing all you can to make her life better, she’ll be happy. It appears she’s had some issues from the beginning and you might not be able to change them on your own without consulting a trainer. Relax and just don’t be overly concerned.
I’ve had my greyhound for over 5 years and she sleeps all the time too. Most of them do. The only time that Sydney really shows any kind of excitement is when I take her for a walk, or a car ride or when I come home. Otherwise she’s laying down sleeping.

she’s jelouse of the other dog and thinks that you pay more attention to it or the other dog dominated her. maybe she is sick? take her to the vet for advice.
If she was happy before you brought your other dog home, that’s your problem. Either get rid of the other dog or give the first dog to someone who can handle her and not have any other pets.
my dog sandy was 8 years old and when we would pet her her tail would go down to but she was always totally 100% happy but even though her eyes were sad it was just her nature but no matter what she knew we loved her and she loved us back but maybe it isnt sadness in her eyes and when sandy used tp put her tail down it was because she was concentraiting on us and making sure we knew she loved us so dig deep inside your dog if you think she is unhappy she could be maybe try a vet if you get really concerned oh and allthe used tos are because sandy is nolonger with us i miss her terribly she was hit by a car the week before spring break but yeah i hope i could help you
