You live in an apartment, not a country home. I think you might be feeling guilty about leaving your dog alone, eh? Don't. They like to sleep, dogs do. If you do feel guilty,and feel your dog needs more socialization, find a doggy day care and let your dog go play at it for the day a few days a week. Italian greyhounds are sensitive dogs--and your dog might feel rejected if you bring a new dog into the mix. Mine howled for months over it, and is still jealous years later. Dogs don't like to share their space or their owner if they don't have to, and that's more the case when the dog has been the coddled "Only One" for all its life. You need to worry more about a dog that gets along with YOUR dog, not fuss over a breed. That said, if you don't like barking, you won't want a terrier or any other big barker. If you must get another dog, get another Italian greyhound.. or maybe a snuggling pug....but I think you should just enjoy the dog you have, and give her socialization opportunities at day care, rather than get a second dog.
