Toy Fox Terrier Or Italian Greyhound?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
I’m looking to get a new puppy and wanted some opinions on which breed was better: Toy Fox Terrier or Italian Greyhound. I live in an apartment so constant barking might be an issue. However, I read that both breeds can be trained to only bark at certain times (don’t know how true that is though). Also, I’m willing to take the dog for walks, but also want one that will get most of its exercise inside. I also want a dog that I can take places with me (especially in the car) so I wondered if the Italian Greyhound would be too large. If anyone owns or has owned one of these breeds I would appreciate your input. Thanks
Shaky Italian Greyhound?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
I’ve tried to look around for the right answer, but I just can’t.
My girlfriend raised her 2 year-old Iggy and babied her really bad. Now she is shaking about 85% of the time, and most of that time, whether she is laying down or standing, she has the paw up (which I’ve read is a “calming sign”?)
I’ve read up on making your dog more confident, but it doesn’t seem to be working? Do I have it all wrong? I’m always reading about dog training and watching Ceaser, and a lot of that seems to be working, Tasha is much more disciplined with me than her mom, but she is almost always shaking!
I guess all I’m asking is; is my dog just not confident? Scared? or something worse?
Thanks for your time!

Adult Italian Greyhound Still Not Potty Trained?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
I have a 5 year old Italian greyhound female. I got her when she was 9 weeks old. She is now 5 years old and still not potty trained! I let her out ever 2 hours even at night time, she will potty out side and then come in side and use the bathroom. I have read so many books on potty training dogs. She some times used puppy pad, but not all the time. She is utd on her shots. A very health dog, with a bad habit.
I love her so much but I’m getting tired of cleaning up pee and poop.
Thinking About Gettin A Italian Greyhound But Should I Train It To Use A Pee Pad?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
So i have been researching majorly what breed of dog should i get. I already have a 1yr old rescued toy poodle that we got as a puppy. And the breed that sounds like it would fit me well also that i love is the italian greyhound. But they dont like cold weather. I live in upper IL and it is nice and warm in the summer and spring and even fall sometimes, but sometimes ( not to often but often enough) it can get below zero during the harsh winters. My poodle (who has only every had 3 accidents and 2 times were my fault and we got him a a 8week old puppy not potty trained) he even refused to go out one day and he had a fluffy coat and a jacket. But i am not going to unteach him how to use a bell to tell us when he has to go outside just to teach him to use a pee pad. But if i am thinking about rescuing a puppy italian greyhound should i train that dog to go on the pee pad or would that confuse my dog then he would start going inside where ever. I would fore sure buy jackets for the IG just as i did for my dog. But will that be enough.
Also since my dog is a male (dont worry he is neutered) should i get a female IG.
What Is The Best Way To Re-house Train An Italian Greyhound?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
The dog would not pee in the house BEFORE he was fixed. Now that he is neutered, he pees in the house, mostly when we are not home. He does not mark things when he pees, but it’ll be a puddle in the middle of the floor. He is always walked immediately, as a relief trip, before we leave.

I live in a two bedroom apartment without a balcony. I want a dog and research tells me that Italian greyhounds are great for apartment living. I like the look and demenour of this breed. Are they ok in an apartment and can they be house trained? Anyone with experience?
Italian Greyhound Training Problems…?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
I have 2 Italian Greyhounds who are puppy pad trained to use the bathroom in a certain area of the house. I only had to show my older dog (6 months) the area once or twice and she is fine with the process, but my younger one (4 months old) is really having a tough time with the concept. Any hints for housetraining using puppy pads?
Training My Italian Greyhound Puppy ?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
she is about 4 months old and she will not listen to me at all. if i tell her to stop eating scraps, she just looks at me and keeps eating. the only way i can stop her is to physically walk over to her and pick her up so she will stop. even then she sometimes wont drop it, she might just swallow it down quickly. so i was wondering how i could get her to listen to me before its too late. thanks!
