How Can I Stop My Dog Being Scared?

I have a wee Rottie cross, she’s about 7 or 8, she’s a rescue and we got her when she was about 3 or 4, we don’t know her history but we’re fairly sure she was abused when she was wee as she’s uncomfortable with arguing and she’s scared of brushes and plastic bags. This isn’t a problem though. The problem is that only recently, within the past few months or so, she has developed a fear of certain noises, especially steam engines, and unfortunately i live near a steam train museum so everytime she comes to stay with me (she lives with my Parent’s) i can’t walk her during the train’s running times or she absolutely freaks out and the Rottie strength in her drags me all the way back home. She’s also worried by whistling noises now too, and brass bands. My Mum had mentioned click therapy, do you think this would work?
I also have a retired racing Greyhound with some odd issues, but she isn’t bothered by the train or whistling or even fireworks, so i don’t know where this fear came from? It’s so strange because they behave so differently. My Greyhound is an angel when she’s out of the house – on a lead, but a pain in the house, where as the Rottie is an angel in the house but can be difficult when out.
How Do I Get My Dog To Stop Holding His Bladder?

My partner and I have just adopted a 10-month old italian greyhound. We’ve had him for a week and he is in the process of adapting to our home and to our 3 year-old italian greyhound.
We are currently having some toilet training issues and have encountered a new behaviour over the past few days.
We make sure he goes out to pee every hour. Lately he has been refusing to go while outside and trying his hardest to evade going out/get back inside as quickly as possible.
While our other greyhound asks to go out regularly during the night, the pup avoids doing so and choses to hold it instead.
Twice now he has held it to the point of bladder bursting and then peed all over. This has occurred once in the house right in front of people and once in the middle of the night.
Can anyone recommend a solution? He is stubbornly refusing to go no matter how many times I take him out. He has a large yard. Even going out with him is not working at this point.
Any advice would be appreciated.

i have a 4 yo and a 2 yo greyhound. The 2 yo is a female. She just came off the tracks. we were training her with the crate and she was doing good not making a mess in the house til lately. She has no problem showing us that she can make in the house in front of us. She used to be so good to as letting us know when she needs to go out and now she has turned back to the not so trained dog she was. Its as if we crate train her she pees in the house, and if she doesn’t pee, she is bad in the crate (whining, barking..etc) . My 4 year old will pee on only certain things. even right after i clean it! he has been in many homes before.. I am at my end, and am not sure what to do. ANy suggestions will be well appreciated. Thank you.
My Italian Greyhound Will Not Stop Peeing In My Boyfriends Bed! Help Me?

Hi,
I have a three year old italian greyhound. He has always been notoriously resistant to house training despite the efforts of absolutely everyone I know pitching in to help.
Recently I moved into a house with my boyfriend. He has his own room (for sanity’s sake), and we spend almost equal amount of time sleeping in his room and my room. The dog sleeps with us in the room in a doggie bed.
Now, NORMALLY, he’s ok as far as accidents in the house go as long as we keep an eye on him. At night, we make sure he’s peed and bundle him up in his bed and he wont get up until morning when we let him out. When we sleep in my room, he crawls up into the bed in the morning when we wake up and snuggles.
When we sleep in HIS room, however, he crawls up in the bed in the morning and pees all over us. Today he peed while I was holding him and after we punished him he peed again on his futon.
This is, understandably, very stressful. Any insight here? Advice?
Thanks in advance!

How Do You Stop Your Dog From Crying When In Crate?

We recently had to crate our rescued greyhound after he started soiling in the house. He’s been with us for 6 years with very little problems. He started soiling when we moved to a new house. Its been 2 years and he’s destroyed the carpeting. He’s been to the vet and all checks out. He doesn’t soil everyday but enough that we decided to crate when we cannot watch him and at night. His crying is horrible. Especially at night. But we need to stop him from destroying the house. Just a note – we have a second dog that’s crate trained. In fact the second dog enjoys his downtime in the crate. Both crates sit side by side. Any tips to make the greyhound more comfortable in the crate? Thanks in advance.

How Do You Get A Dog To Stop Taking Everything Off Of Any Surface In The Whole House?

our dog , is not actually ours, he’s a foster greyhound. greyhounds are hard to teach because they are so timid, but not this one. he is huge and muscular, so we can’t pull him anywhere. telling him “no” will not help, he just brushes it off and walks away.
this dog keeps taking things off of desks, tables and counters. we yell at him and squirt him with water, nothing is helping. we can’t use crate training because he needs to be in a crate when we leave the house or else he will tear apart the house, and at night or else he wakes us up in the middle of the night. we ca’t put spices on my iPod and he reaches into my dad’s bad, into his lunch box and got a muffin. he is also very quiet. he is huge, so it is easy for him to get on the counter. he takes anyhting and everything! please help!!!!!

What Type Of Dog Walking Tool Is The Best To Train My Dog To Stop Pulling On The Leash During Walks? Thank You?

I am in the process of trying to get my dog to stop pulling on the leash during walks. Right now, I am using a regular flat collar. I don’t feel that a flat collar is going to help any. I believe that there must be a better dog walking tool. I will not use a greyhound collar, a prong collar, or a choker collar. Thank You!
