Black Labs…honest Opinions Very Appreciated!?

My husband and I are dog lovers. We’ve always had 2 dogs, but recently had to put one down due to medical issues. Now we have one dog and are considering another. We have the opportunity to adapt a 4 yr old male black lab from my boss. (My boss is having her first baby and doesn’t want a dog in the house) She said the dog is about 125 lbs and very friendly. Current on all shots. I’ve done some research on labs and they sound great, but I’m wanting to hear personal experiences from you if you have any. We take pet owning very seriously and we want to make a good choice. We have 2 teenage daughters and our other dog is a retired greyhound racer. We’d love to get a companion for her, because all she’s ever known is being around other dogs. What do you think of black labs? Temperment? Size? Pros & Cons? Easy to train? Friendly? I Need Help With My Dog And A Very Tough Decision…?

My dog sydney, a coonhound (maybe greyhound or doberman mix) Keeps running away… I know that hounds run away a lot, but I live right in town. She runs away when I leave town. Thats the only thing that worries me is that she will get hit by a car. She is very well known by the police too! But she has 3 legs and she was found running on top of a ski pass with her leg amputated. She is such a wonderful dog… I have training classes lined up for Thursday. Do you think she can learn recall? She will linger outside the house, but wont come in! I dont know what to do, and my mom loves her, but doesnt know if we are the right home for her… She is perfectly fine except for running away… she recently chewed threw her leash while I was in Salt Lake City, UT and she is stuck at the shelter while we debate… Plz Help me!!!!!!!!!

A Very Territorial Chihuahua And The New Dog In The House. Help?

The chihuahua isn’t exactly mine, but it lives in the same house I do. I was thinking of getting an Italian Greyhound, and before anyone says anything about that, yes, I am very capable and ready for taking care of it. Is it possible to train the Chihuahua so that he can accept that the new dog will be living in the same house as him? If so, how?
